About My Own Yoga

Small-group Yoga classes with Michelle Dortignac, a certified teacher with decades of experience — taught from her cozy in-home studio in Lancaster, PA.

I’ve always believed the best kind of yoga is the kind that feels like it was made just for you. That’s why I teach in a small, personal format of just one to three students per class. That way I can personalize the class for your tastes and needs on your first day, and every day as you change over time.

Here at my studio, I offer two ways to practice: traditional mat-based yoga and hammock-assisted yoga using soft fabric. Both are rooted in mindful movement and steady breath. Some students alternate between the two types of classes, others choose to stick with one—either way works.

Classes take place in my quiet home studio in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. It’s a calm, welcoming space with room to move, breathe, and focus without distraction.

With more than 25 years of teaching experience, and a personal practice I return to daily, I’ve come to value steadiness over spectacle, and presence over perfection. In each session, we’ll blend breath, alignment, and movement to release tension, support your nervous system, and build strength that lasts.

If you’re looking for a practice that meets you where you are and grows with you—you’ll find it here.

Questions and Answers about My Own Yoga

What makes My Own Yoga different?

I keep every class intentionally small—three students maximum—so you get truly personalized attention. We meet in my cozy home studio in Lancaster, PA, where I can tailor each session to your body, your pace, and your goals.
See Benefits of Small Classes here.

What types of classes do you offer?

I teach both Traditional Yoga, a calm, steady practice of mindful on-the-mat postures, and Hammock-Assisted Yoga, which uses a soft fabric hammock to deepen stretches, improve balance, and ease joint pressure. You choose the style that appeals to you most.
See comparison of Traditional and Hammock-Assisted Yoga here.

Are these classes heated like hot yoga classes?

No. All classes are held at room temperature.

Do I need prior yoga experience?

Not at all! I welcome complete beginners and seasoned yogis alike. If you’ve never done yoga, I’ll guide you through the basics step by step. If you’ve practiced for years, I’ll offer personalized adjustments and advanced options.

What should I wear and bring to class?

Wear comfortable, form-fitting clothes that let you move freely (leggings or shorts and a snug top). I provide yoga mats, straps, blocks, and hammocks. (Of course, bring your own mat/props if you like.)
Full class preparation info here.

Are there any health considerations I should be aware of?

Your safety and comfort are always a top priority. Yoga is a supportive way to build strength, awareness, and ease. But as with any movement practice, it’s important to honor your body’s needs, especially if you’re working with specific health conditions.
Learn more about health considerations here.

How do I book a session?

Simply choose your class style (Traditional or Hammock-Assisted) from the Book a Class page. You’ll receive a confirmation email with links to any additional information you may need.

What is your cancellation policy?

Up to 24 hours before your session, you may cancel, reschedule, or receive a refund at no charge. If you need to cancel or reschedule between 1 and 24 hours’ notice, you’ll receive a 50% credit toward rescheduling/refund. See full Cancellation & Refund Policy here.

How long is each class?

Full sessions run 60 minutes. Mini-Class Sessions run 30 minutes and offer a glimpse into the rhythm and structure of a full session. See more session and booking info here.

Where is your studio located, and is parking available?

My home studio is in the Chestnut Hill neighborhood of Lancaster, PA. Exact address and travel/parking information will be provided after you book your session.

Is there an Ice Cream Shop nearby?

Yes there is! Splits and Giggles Ice Cream Shop is right around the corner. And they’re open for plenty of time after your class is finished. (No affiliation, just thought you’d like to know!)
